Galleri Kaya has organised a group art exhibition featuring artworks by ten eminent artists of the country at Uttara in the capital.
The exhibition titled Classic 10 is featuring 37 artworks, created using different mediums, namely oil, acrylic, watercolour, pen, ink and mixed media, by SM Sultan, Murtaja Baseer, Samarjit Roy Choudhury, Hashem Khan, Rafiqun Nabi, Hamiduzzaman Khan, Shahabuddin Ahmed, Chandra Shekhar Dey, Mohammad Eunus and Ranjit Das.
The artworks were created between 1956 and 2023.
Two artworks by SM Sultan, including an watercolour landscape painting created in 1958 and an ink and pen on paper artwork created in 1956, have been displayed in the exhibition.
The exhibition also features Murtaja Baseer’s iconic linocut work titled Bloody 21st, which was created in 1952, depicting the Language Movement. Besides, an oil painting, some drawings and linocut works of Murtaja Baseer have been displayed at the event.
An acrylic artwork by artist Samarjit Roy Choudhury titled Opera Star portrays the life of an opera dancer. Besides, three more artworks by the artist titled A Corner of Old Dhaka, Midnight Symphony and Nature have been displayed at the exhibition.
Rafiqun Nabi’s watercolour painting titled The Volcano, created in 2015, shows a group of tourists watching a volcano.
Hamiduzzaman Khan’s watercolour painting titled A Lane from Chittagong shows a hilly village in Chattogram. The painting was created in 1969.
Besides, artist Shahabuddin Ahmed’s four lithograph works have been displayed at the exhibition.
The exhibition, which was inaugurated on March 18, will end on April 2.
